At the Furniture Fair held by Antiguedades Versalles, a certain emphasis was placed on the artistic trend that has been growing for a few years, such as the decorative restoration of antique furniture, updating it to the taste and current decoration of certain homes and families.
In short, it is about "giving a coat of paint" to an antique furniture, usually dark, either in color or in the range of whites.
There are currently several types of paint suitable for this type of work, including chalk paint (chalk paint) that do not require laborious prior work such as pickling or sanding, and can be added directly on the varnished furniture, yes, cleansed!
ART DÉCO EXHIBITION AT GRAN HOTEL DOMINE BILBAO - JANUARY 2017
Last January, the Art Deco Sculpture Exhibition was held for the first time in Bilbao at the Gran Hotel Dómine Bilbao. It was an exhibition of bronze sculptures and criselefantinas, manufactured by Artesanía Versalles (Bilbao). The criselefantinas, are figures that initially were composed of gold and ivory. Later the term "Chryselephantine" is also used for a style of miniature sculpture common in Art Nouveau of the late nineteenth century. In this context, he describes statuettes with skin represented in ivory, and clothes and other details made of other materials, such as gold, bronze, marble, silver or onyx. Artesanía Versalles is a company in Bilbao, www.spaindecor.com with its own foundry, which in this case works practically exclusively with bronze and ivory. They have a wide range of pieces of all kinds of sizes and motifs, both in bronze exclusively and in criselefantines, with different patinas, leather or brown, green, or golden patina. In some cases the Chryselephantine figures include small incrustations of semiprecious stones, and are finished with polychrome works on the bronze garments. Finally, the final finish is completed by incorporating the figures on pedestals or bases of marble or onyx, of different shapes and colors.

FAIR OF THE FURNITURE AND ANTIQUES. DECEMBER 2016
Antigüedades Versalles celebrated last December 2016 the first Furniture and Antiques Fair in its new facilities in Bilbao, in Camino Ventosa 46, 4º Dcha, in the SOÑAR building in Olabeaga.
The fair or exhibition took place during the week of December 12 to 17, 2016, registering a notable influx of public.
Does this mean the end of the dark, old furniture? Undoubtedly not. But not only because there are still countless lovers of antique furniture, in Europe and throughout the world. The modern homes, the apartments and the little apartments, the apartments, the shops, the offices, continue to be enriched and will continue to be enriched by the old furniture, perhaps not filling the spaces but by placing pieces in certain points, giving character and a certain personality to our homes, fleeing a bit of the flat European north furniture of cheap agglomerate wood, which, let me say that it has nothing to do with a good piece of solid wood, hardwood, (oak, walnut, chestnut, mahogany ...) painted or simply varnished, real wood.

UPCOMING EXHIBITION IN BILBAO
12 OCTOBER TO 12 NOVEMBER 2017
The art gallery Llamas Art Gallery, will exhibit in its facilities in Bilbao (Iparraguirre Street 4) along with the rest of its usual collection of paintings and art, a collection of Art Déco Criselefantine Sculptures. It is a temporary exhibition of bronze sculptures and criselefantinas, all of them for sale.
They are replicas in bronze and ivory of Art Deco figures of the master sculptors of the s. XX, Demetre Chiparus, P. Philippe, A. Morán, J. Gori ... Wide selection of sculptures of different sizes. Some really huge, of a size much higher than the original sculptures, and that very rarely have been able to see.
The figures are finished with different patinas, leather or brown, green, or golden patina and even silver. In some cases the Chryselephantine figures include works of polychrome on the bronze garments, or the placement of small semiprecious stones.
When these sculptures are displayed on pedestals or bases of marble or onyx, of different shapes and colors, they acquire a sumptuousness typical of palaces and the most luxurious hotels or the grandest villas.
The LLAMAS Art Gallery is just over 50 meters from the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, where Puppy, the famous giant dog made of flowers, watches the museum from the exterior esplanade.
